one scientist's noise is another scientist's data

nothing lasts but nothing is lost

jesus, was it you indeed,
to flirt unkindly with my greed,
promising eternal life,
when you knew it was not right,
when you knew that what I'd need was willingness and comfort there

... and so you could become very sensitive to everything, you start walking through the studio, you go: 'ah yes, it's going to be a good day, I can feel -

god's declaration of entropy? all is not lost, but nothing is to be found?
23 I beheld the earth,
And, lo, it was waste and void;
And the heavens, and they had no light.
24 I beheld the mountains,
and, lo, they trembled,
And all the hills moved to and fro.
25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man,
And all the birds of the heavens were fled.
26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful field was a wilderness,
And all the cities thereof were broken down
At the presence of the LORD,
And before His fierce anger.
27 For thus saith the LORD:
The whole land shall be desolate;
Yet will I not make a full end.

"The day will come when we shall harness for God the energies of love. And, on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, the human being will have discovered fire." Teilhard

But he said he fears a silent and obedient society, arguing that a world where everyone is offended will lead to self-censorship.

"It was a mess: Every night, one of the squads would be banging in doors, chasing people down the street, putting guns to people's ears. It wasn't working. You'd think people would wake up but they didn't," he said. "I was the one that woke up."

We live in a society absolutely dependent on science and technology and yet have cleverly arranged things so that almost no one understands science and technology. That's a clear prescription for disaster. - carl sagan (http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Carl_Sagan)

I would like my vote to act as my voice as to policies I want to see in my nation. Currently the voting process only chooses the person who decides the policies for me. I am done with being interested in our prime minister being CEO to our economic struggles and totally vacant when it comes to any other struggles (environmental/social/international peace). You are elected into a seat of responsibility, not power. - what i wrote on some petition no one will ever read.

find (a) simple solutions (b) to overlooked problems (c) that actually need to be solved, and (d) deliver them as informally as possible, (e) starting with a very crude version 1, then (f) iterating rapidly...if you release a crude version 1 then iterate, your solution can benefit from the imagination of nature, which, as Feynman pointed out, is more powerful than your own. paul grahm

“One of the unique issues for this commission has to do with the role of the RCMP in society as a public order, policing, body, when they have competing interests,” says Morgan. “They're a police force that enforces laws. They're also there to protect the people. In this case we have environmentalists. We also had First Nations peoples, who have aboriginal rights and they wanted those rights protected. What is really the role of the police, in this case the RCMP, in balancing those competing interests? http://halifax.mediacoop.ca/story/cops-behaving-badly/33588

The ocean floor is hidden
From your viewing lens
A depth perception
Languished in the night
All my life I've been
Sowing the wounds but
The seeds spread a
Lachrymal cloud

i doubt this is a real article, but sums up the general sentiment and mistrust pretty well.

"Debts must be collected, bonds and mortgages must be foreclosed as rapidly as possible. When, through a process of law, the common people lose their homes they will become more docile and more easily governed through the influence of the strong arm of government, applied by a central power of wealth under control of leading financiers.

This truth is well known among our principal men now engaged in forming an imperialism of Capital to govern the world.

By dividing the voters through the political party system, we can get them to expend their energies in fighting over questions of no importance. Thus by discreet action we can secure for ourselves what has been so well planned and so successfully accomplished."
